OUR HISTORY AND FUTURE
BLUE RIVER BICYCLE CLUB
is a group of riders who love cycling and are dedicated to promoting the sport in all its forms. Located in the southern Kansas City, Johnson County area, our members are comprised of teens to masters with diverse backgrounds and a range of cycling abilities.
In 1994, Ariel Mendez opened Leawood Bicycles located in Kansas City, Missouri. Through hard work and dedication to the shop and sport, he and other passionate cyclists in the area formed the club. Although Ariel eventually retired, the club has flourished to become one of the largest and most established in the region. Club members are actively involved in road, mountain, cyclocross, time-trial, and fat biking. Some members have become state champions or even moved on to professional ranks.
As a club, we value the camaraderie of getting together for a ride or race. We love to have fun, talk bikes, and learn how to become better and safer cyclists. BRBC promotes annual events and various weekly rides. Whether you’re a casual rider or racing champion, we have something to offer everyone who enjoys the sport.
CELEBRATING 25 YEARS AND MORE
Our club history is rich and our roots are deep. In 2019 we celebrated 25 years of riding. We want to thank our club members who have supported us over the years, making BRBC what it is today. We also want to extend our gratitude to the volunteers, friends, families, and sponsors who keep us rolling. Without everyone, this wouldn’t have been possible.
